Circularity
Our Lifetime Service Centre has been rejuvenating thousands of well-loved bags for over 40 years.
We know that our customers cherish, keep, and care for their Mulberry bags, and we support their commitment by offering accessible artisanal repair services. The team within our Lifetime Service Centre at our Somerset factory, The Rookery, are masters of restoration, breathing new life into thousands of pre-loved Mulberry pieces every year.
Mulberry bags are designed to lead many lives, so in 2020 we launched The Mulberry Exchange, our resale platform through which customers can trade in their existing Mulberry bags for credit towards a new purchase. Once we have bought back these pre-loved pieces, we authenticate and rejuvenate each bag before finding them loving new homes.
The truth is, we are still a long way from a luxury industry in which ‘use and reuse’ is given the same attention and investment as new products, but we are making these services a central part of our future business plan, and embedding them in our customer experience.
Progress
- In 2021, Mulberry were one of the first to partner with resale platform Vestiaire Collective on their Brand Approved programme.
- In September 2023, we were proud to put a spotlight on circularity during London Fashion Week, collaborating with British design duo Stefan Cooke on a capsule which championed pre-loved styles from Mulberry’s circularity programme.
- The Mulberry Exchange is now available in the UK, US, Australia, China, Japan, and South Korea, and we continue to look at how we can increase accessibility globally.
- In 2024, the Lifetime Service Centre repaired over 9,800 bags.
- All our bags, new or old, sit side by side as part of our product offering online and in stores where The Mulberry Exchange is present. Since 2023, our pre-loved bags have been featured in campaign imagery alongside seasonal products, enabling customers to shop pre-loved alongside newness.
