Community

Our roots may be Somerset, but our branches are far reaching – upholding and celebrating the diverse influences and international connections that inspire our creativity.

We strive for a culture inside and outside our business where generosity, good humour, and respect for each other – as well as the world around us – drive all our decisions. It’s a culture in which the wellbeing of our people, our partners, and our customers is prioritised and valued.

As the largest manufacturer of leather goods in the United Kingdom, Mulberry embodies modern British craft. We are committed to developing and growing the expertise and capacity we have established in the UK, and connecting this to a regenerative British supply chain.

We believe craftsmanship in all its forms is the foundation of a product that is Made to Last.

Progress

  • Mulberry has been a real Living Wage Employer since 2021, voluntarily paying above the government minimum and encouraging suppliers to do the same across our supply chain.
  • Our longstanding partnership with The Felix Project helps tackle food poverty in London by redistributing surplus food and offering volunteering opportunities for our teams. In Somerset, our Community Fund – launched in 2021 with Somerset Community Foundation – supports causes in the county aligned with our Made to Last strategy.
  • Our Charity & Community Committee makes financial and product donations to raise funds for local charities and community groups which have connections to our own employees or our charity partners. This year we made 99 product donations, valued at £61,000 RRP.
  • We collaborate with Mentoring Matters and The Outsiders Perspective to improve access to the fashion industry for underrepresented groups, using our teams’ expertise to foster inclusion.
  • Our DE&I Committee is supported by Employee Resource Groups – safe spaces for shared identities and allyship across ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability, and mental health – driving positive cultural change.
  • Our carbon-neutral Somerset factories produce 50% of our iconic bags, while our wider network of partners across the UK, Europe, and Asia crafts small leather goods and lifestyle pieces with equal care and skill. Since 2006, our apprenticeship scheme has supported local communities and nurtured the next generation of craftspeople.
  • All Tier 1 suppliers are audited against our Global Sourcing Principles, with selected Tier 2 suppliers assessed by risk. Every supplier completes an annual ESG questionnaire.
  • In 2023, we assessed biodiversity at our two factory sites and partnered with Somerset Wildlife Trust to help nature thrive across the region.
  • Our Mulberry Green packaging uses CupCycling, an innovative recycling process that transforms disposable coffee cups into paper, so far saving 4.4 million cups from landfill. Our direct-to-consumer outer packaging is sourced with a minimum of 67% recycled cardboard.

Supplier List

At Mulberry we believe that transparency from 'farm to finished product’ is foundational to creating a regenerative business model. Acting on that belief, since 2023 we have published a list of our Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers across the following product categories: Leather Goods, Soft Accessories, Sunglasses and Lifestyle.
