## Materials We are committed to the responsible sourcing of all raw materials used in the production of Mulberry goods, coupled with an innovative and imaginative approach to introducing new, sustainable materials within our ranges.
## Leather Mulberry is proud to be the largest designer and maker of luxury leather goods in the United Kingdom and has been a member of the internationally recognised Leather Working Group since 2012\. All of the leathers used in our collections are a by-product of food production and are sourced to meet our high ethical standards. The Leather Working Group’s objective is to provide Environmental Stewardship for the leather industry by developing and maintaining protocols that assess the environmental compliance of tannery operations. The group seeks to improve the leather manufacturing industry by creating alignment on environmental priorities, bringing visibility to best practices and providing suggested guidelines for continual improvement. Mulberry is a member of the Animal Welfare Group (AWG), a subgroup of the Leather Working Group (LWG) whose principal objective is to provide education and information to its members on the salient aspects of livestock and animal welfare within the leather value chain. The purpose of the group is to support members to make informed decisions in relation to the issue of animal welfare. Established in 2016, the AWG abides by the LWG's articles of association.
## The Portobello Our first 100% sustainable leather bag, the design of the Portobello was inspired by the shape of a throwaway, everyday item - the plastic bag – transforming it into an elegant, functional tote that is Made to Last. Each Portobello tote has been crafted in our carbon neutral UK Somerset factories with Gold Standard leather, stitched with recycled Epic EcoVerde thread and finished with an embossed Mulberry tree.100% of net proceeds from the sales of the first one hundred Portobello Totes will go to the World Land Trust.
